Real-life Jewish humor...
the funny side of life with children

Here's Jewish humor you can really relate to! Family life often gets pretty wacky, just because children are children. Who needs the Comedy Channel (or even the Big Book of Jewish Humor) when our kids entertain us 24 hours a day, for free, whether we like it or not?

One of the nice surprises about raising children is discovering how hilarious life with kids can be. On any given day, you may have your very own live-in stand-up comedian (complete with straight man, if you're lucky), slapstick show, or -- let's be honest here -- a three-ring circus!

Laughter is also one of the best parenting strategies there is. Sometimes cracking a joke (not sarcastic, and not at anyone's expense) can prevent the bickering that's been simmering between children from escalating to a boil. A sense of humor also helps parents keep things in perspective emotionally, so that little problems don't grow into big ones.

In every issue of Natural Jewish Parenting, our humor columnists are guaranteed to make you laugh. And aside from two regular humor columns, you'll enjoy funny quotes from real kids, humorous (as well as serious, thoughtful, provocative, touching, inspiring) essays in our Real Life section, and slightly offbeat -- and yes, funny -- stories for parents and children to share together in our Storytime department.

It's real Jewish humor for families -- at a time when we all need it most!

The links below will take you to humorous articles from the pages of Natural Jewish Parenting magazine. Some articles are reprinted in full; others are excerpts. (If an article title is plain text and does not link to another page, then it is currently available only in print copies of NJP. Back issues are available at the NJP Shop. Click here to order back issues. NJP Shop will open in a new window.)

Over time, I will be making more articles available online. New articles will be added here after each new issue is published, and exclusive web-only content will also be added.
